Many Longquan swordsmiths received their knowledge directly from Japanese forges; there is a rich history of information sharing between the two cultures. Unless indicated otherwise, every sword is hand-forged and made-to-order for a high-quality & unique product created for you. This intricate process takes 3-4 weeks to complete. We’ll send pictures of your sword by email for confirmation (please whitelist sales@swordsofnorthshire.com to make sure you get our email). Tanto and wakizashi swords usually take around 4 weeks. Highly customized swords such as blades of a custom length or custom painted scabbards will typically take 4-5 weeks. For most orders, we estimate 4-6 weeks from the time the order is submitted to when you receive it. If you need a sword by a specific date or within a shorter time frame, contact us and we can see about prioritizing your order.

Yes, you can customize every sword on our website. Even if you’re not happy with the existing options available to you, you can request just about any change you could think of. We can change most fittings, wrappings, and blade coloring (black, red, or blue) for free. These kinds of requests can be made in the order comments section during checkout. If what you need done is more complex and might cost extra, please contact us with your request. If you make a request in the comments section when ordering your sword and it happens to cost extra we’ll kindly follow-up and explain the cost difference and send an invoice for the cost if you’re happy with it.

Please do not waste your money and time buying this sword. It is not made as advertised. If you’re looking for a wall hanger there are much better options. This sword is not battle ready as advertised. Since they refunded me my money and let me keep the sword, I’ve been able to do some testing. After hitting it against a tatami mat one time, not only did it not cut, but the pummel and cross guard loosened. Also, the scabbard it came with was in terrible condition and clearly wasn’t made for this sword, it was too big. For $600 you deserve something with a much better fit/finish, and there are a lot of companies out there that make much better swords for this price point. A “battle ready” blade shouldn’t bend against a standard tatami mat, and I shouldn’t be able to leave a permanent bend in the blade just by using my hands, I’m not Superman. If you want an actual andruil you can cut with or use, I recommend swordier. These guys are a huge rip off and I’m trying to spread awareness. They would not have refunded me if I didn’t get my bank involved. Whatever excuse they respond with will most likely be a lie, they’ve given me the run around and lied to me throughout the whole refund process. This company is complete garbage and needs to go out of business. Again, please do more research before spending this much money on a sword. If you’re new to the hobby, there’s plenty of YouTube videos that go over swords that are reasonably priced. I’m not writing this to be rude or spiteful, I just don’t want anyone to go through what I went through.

Sword is really beautiful and impressive. Tremendous detail. Seems to have a slight bend if you look closely, but I can live with it. The little strap to attach it to a belt is flimsy, but I won't be using it for that. The attention to detail with the runes on the blade and in the hilt is what got me. So so beautiful. Impressive sword. No blemishes, sturdy, well-balanced, and reasonably sharp for a replica sword. It hangs on a handcrafted kingwood and maple plaque (fitting) at my bar, next to an art print of its eventual bearer. The detail on the runes is quite good as well.
