Like all of our tamahagane swords, this Japanese samurai sword was made of iron sand and charcoal. Smelted in a tatara furnace, the resulting steel is folded to remove impurities and separated into low and high carbon pieces. The high carbon pieces are used to make the core and powerful cutting edge.
The traditionally curved blade is sheathed in a lacquered black hardwood saya and decorated with a leather ito in the color of your choice.
