High Quality Sakabatō Replica
Designed to imitate the infamous Sakabatō blade from Rurouni Kenshin, we chose to make this reverse blade sword from 1095 high carbon steel to ensure strength and toughness. What makes this sword so special is that the cutting edge is on the opposite side from normal katanas.
This blade was given to the character Himura by Arai Shakkū after the Battle at Toba-Fushimi. It became Himura’s most trusted sword for ten years until it was broken by Seta Sōjirō in a duel. The sword is a beautifully simple piece with minimal ornamentation. The craftsmen at Swords of Northshire have replicated the hilt, black and gold oval handguard, and the blade itself to mimic the sword from the show as closely as possible.
Materials and Process
We chose to create the reverse blade sword by repeatedly heat treating and hand forging the carbon steel to remove impurities. The blade is full tang and hand polished with Japanese waterstones. Whether you choose to use your Sakabatō replica for dojo practice or for display purposes, it is fully functional and battle ready.
With such a unique reverse blade sword, it takes our master smiths between 2-3 weeks to hand-craft your order. Your patience guarantees that we can create a high quality piece that will last a lifetime.
