This sword is made of 1095 high carbon steel, clay tempered with a polished mirror-like surface. It is a very strong sword made with traditional methods, for multiple applications. The blade is repeatedly heat treated and hand forged to remove impurities. The clay temper process combines the characters of toughness and flexibility and results in a genuine hamon (temper line). The blade is full tang and hand sharpened, suitable for battle. The sword comes with silk sageo/ito, genuine same' (rayskin) and premium engraved copper fittings. The saya is made of hard wood, painted with multiple layers, hand carved with inlaid shells, and featured buffalo horn at the ends. It's even more beautiful in person. This sword is a very good choice for dojo and iaido use, gifts, cutting practice, display, and collection. It is durable enough for tameshigiri, bamboo, bones, iron wire, etc. This blade is a stunning combination of beauty and functionality.

I looked into your website courtesy of SBG (Paul) and decided to give you a try. What a good decision! My sword was made with obvious pride in workmanship and Bryce was great in helping out with my selections. I plan to order another soon and if you're thinking of ordering a sword you can't go wrong here. Outstanding!

I received my sword earlier this week. The shipping container consisting of a sturdy styrofoam box wrapped in shipping tape was in excellent shape with no damage to the sword. The sword was sharpened as promised and prepared well for shipping i.e., oiled, wrapped, etc...After living in Japan for 10 years I wanted to complete my home entrance way with an authentic looking Japanese sword which are difficult to purchase in Japan because of the no weapons law(s). Good service...good product, and at a fair price. Domo Arigato Gozaimasu! SD

Product was as specified. Beautiful piece and sharp as I asked for, unlike some distributers (budk and the like )who advertise "battle ready, quality pieces at bargain prices ". The katana I received was beautiful, battle ready and easily worth twice the price.

I received the sword yesterday. The container was in good shape and I appreciated how well the sword was packaged, including that the blade was oiled and sheathed in plastic. And thank you for sending it priority express. I'm sure that got it to me days earlier than standard shipping. The sword itself is beautiful and the saya is a work of art. It was the saya that drew me to that particular sword and it is gorgeous. I also appreciate the beautiful sword sack. Very nice indeed. I couldn't be more pleased. Sincerely, James Bernet

Received my Katana slightly ahead of time which suited my impatient wee Scottish nature. The packaging was first class and the tracking was all I could have asked for. Now to the quality of the Katana itself. With this being my first purchase from Swords of Northshire I was hoping that it would be excellent and it was beyond my hopes. The craftsmanship is gobsmacking in every detail and this Chinese workforce must be commended for the care and quality poured into the sword. Even my partner Maureen was in awe of the power in the Katana. I was so delighted that I was compelled to order an identical Wakizashi which brings me onto the personal association you instantly cultivate with this company. My contact was Bryce who, with much patience answered all of my queries and questions and walked me through the payment problems. I cannot praise him highly enough. So if you are in two minds about a purchase take the plunge, you will not regret it.
