The Tiger Katana sword is made of 1095 high carbon steel, clay tempered with a polished mirror-like surface. It is a very strong blade made with traditional methods, for multiple applications. The blade is repeatedly heat treated and hand forged to remove impurities. The clay temper process combines the characters of toughness and flexibility and results in a genuine hamon (temper line). The blade is full tang and hand sharpened, suitable for battle. The sword comes with a natural huali wood saya, silk sageo/ito, genuine same' (rayskin) and premium engraved copper fittings. This sword is a very good choice for dojo and iaido use, gifts, cutting practice, display, and collection. It is durable enough for tameshigiri, bamboo, bones, and iron wire.

First off, I didn't expect it to come with a sword bag included, which was a nice surprise. The sword itself is very beautiful, and has a nice weight to it. It's blade heavy, which is worth noting. Everything is very tight on it, nothing loose. It's rather hard to pull it from the saya, but it'll eventually loosen up a bit after some use. I didn't buy this katana for display or for cutting, rather, I bought it as a practice katana for training. Solo training of course, never spare with real weapons. But, it's excellent for this cause. The weight of the blade is perfect for practice swinging and getting down techniques. As far as cutting goes, I personally haven't tried cutting anything with it. But, it is exceptionally sharp (I resharpened it myself because it didn't seem to be fully sharpened.) so I believe it'll excel in that aspect. It is definitely worth $400, but don't expect it to hold up to higher grade swords that are sold on this site.

I received my order much sooner than expected. It was shipped within three days. I assumed it was going to be shipped by sea so I missed the pastel drop off and had to pick up at post office. It came packaged first with waterproof tape on the outside. It was wrapped in form fitting styrofoam. The sword is beautiful. Everything is very tight. I had it sharpened with Niku and it is still plenty sharp. I love it. Does not say in description but I believe the Kojiri, kirikata, and koiguchi are made of buffalo horn. It is very stiff getting out of Saya but is starting to loosen up. Much rather tight than too loose. I have only cut bottles, milk jugs, and noodles but it cut through them very well. You will be happy with this sword.
