This is a well-made colorful folded steel sword, following the traditional Japanese process. The blade is very sharp and folded 13 times resulting in over 8,000 layers. After the sharpening work, the blade is specially treated to show the unique and beautiful color. There are three different colors: black, red, and black & red. It comes with a black lacquered hard wood saya and silk sageo/ito, copper tsuba set, and genuine same (rayskin). The tang is secured into the handle with two bamboo mekugi and features a hand engraved Mei(signature). It is a very good choice for Dojo students, gifts, cutting practice, and display. It is durable enough for cutting tameshigiri and bamboo. The colorful film is very solid; it will not come off. Each sword is individually handmade so specifications vary slightly from sword to sword.

a:2:{s:7:"content";s:745:"An image will only justify a fraction of the swords beauty until the moment you hold the blade in your hand and draw it. To see the magnificent craftsmanship, iS awe inspiring.\r\nThere was not a single fault, the weight, balance point and the blade thickness is great, I personally like that it has a somewhat thinner tapperd feel than most katanas. I personally can\'t explain how beautiful the hamon and dyeing is, every little detail was perfectly executed and it came faster than the expected time of arrival (Australia - Brisbane)\r\nI\'m pleased to say I look forward to ordering more in the future and highly recommend this company for their professionalism and responses. I look forward to all future business and purchases to follow. ";s:6:"images";a:0:{}}

The craftsmanship is shocking. For the price I was expecting loose fittings and what I thought would be an obviously machine crafted and sharpened blade... I was so wrong. Someone with impressive skill put the blade together and they did so with care. It's like the guys behind it's creation cared about the blade. I did make a custom request to the sword for a different saya (116 from their catalog of memory serves). The type of saya got can be seen on the ninjato found here https://www.swordsofnorthshire.com/ninja-swords/ninjato/hand-forged-black-folded-steel-sawtooth-blade-samurai-ninja-serpent-sword/ Though the one I have is longer and curved. I must say that I'm extremely happy with how amazing the sword looks and how sharp the blade is. But big points go to the extremely friendly and helpful folks at Swords of Northshire. They were always quick to respond and always made you feel like you were their number one priority. My brother recommended Northshire to me and so I bought a sword for my fiancee. Once I saw how amazing hers looked I immediately purchased this sword for myself.

This sword is striking. Smooth lines and fine craftsmanship make it a mantel piece that will invoke wonder... still in the Sheath. Upon inspection of the weapon the blade once drawn will grab the eyes You fathom the time that was put into this Sword to produce the metal folding. the hilt was so finely wound to have my friend remark "this guys hands must bleed to get the materials to so smoothly and produce the sleak look and add quality hang movement and sword manipulation. It feels good looks GReat and those combined make it a must have for the true collector or the gift of a lifetime.

Awesome workmanship! Besides the very tip of the blade was bent on arrival, and the handle was wrapped for a left handed person.
