Tamahagane, also known as jewel steel, is a blending of iron, sand, and charcoal in a Tatara furnace that creates a revered steel for Japanese swords. Through traditional Japanese forging techniques, the resulting high carbon steel is folded multiple times to remove impurities and create a high-quality weapon.
This yellow and red accented hand-forged tamahagane katana has a beautiful hamon line — a bright shining wave that accents the blade. Using hazuya and jizuya polishing stones, the hamon line and the grain pattern of this clay tempered steel are brought forth. Section by section, this custom made katana from Swords of Northshire is forged and polished by master craftsmen to result in a blade strong enough to cut through bamboo, small trees, iron, copper, and even bone. This sword is highly recommended for serious collectors.
Due to the intensive nature of creating this custom made katana, there is a lead time of up to two months for this sword.
At Swords of Northshire, we pride ourselves in our quality work. If for any reason you aren't happy with your purchase, we will make it right! We guarantee you'll love your sword or your money back
