The gladius was a sword popularized by the Legions at the height of the Roman Empire. It’s traditionally a double-edged sword with a sharp, tapering tip. As a very effective close-quarter weapon, it complemented the fighting style of the Roman legions. Well-suited for thrusting, stabbing, slashing, and chopping, historical accounts indicate that the blade length varied between 18 to 28 inches. It also had unique handle ridges to provide a better grip and ended in an instantly recognizable rounded pommel.
Our historically accurate replica of the gladius sword is a fully functional piece of the Roman Empire that can be the centerpiece of any display in your home. Learn more about how we create these high-quality weapons here.
