Shirasaya swords are authentic ninja swords designed with an aesthetic focus on minimalism and simplicity. This Japanese ninja sword is encased in a clean-cut wooden scabbard that matches the hilt. When sheathed, the sword looks like a single, sanded piece of wood in a beautiful dark wood hue. The only allowance for embellishment is the black buffalo horn caps which protect the wood when sheathing.
Features
Like all of our authentic ninja swords, this shirasaya was hand-forged through traditional Japanese swordsmithing techniques. Our smiths fold the steel 13 times to create over 8,000 layers and develop a visible grain pattern on the metal of the blade. Heat-treated, clay tempered, and oil quenched, our swords are the perfect blend of strength and flexibility. Some of the other features of this Japanese ninja sword include:
Huanghuali, or huali, wood translates to "yellow flowering pear" and is a rare species of rosewood. Mainly found in Hainan province, it ranges from a reddish-brown to golden-yellow color.
