I just received my first sword this week, and I gotta say, they did a PERFECT job on everything!!! My custom sword is a Tang Dao Straight Blade with a S-shaped handguard that's not even in their catalog, and they still made it exactly how I wanted from just a picture I provided!!! After this, I will definitely order swords exclusively from this site now!

I was truly amazed by my katana as it was very well made and quality as well as time invested. I was surprised by their prior confirmation pictures and their fast shipping. Very impressed indeed. I am a firm believer in Swords of Northshire.

Custom Sword, Small Hybrid Nagamaki. After roughly about two months of patiently waiting, it finally arrived. Swords of NorthShire has outdone themselves once again on this latest build. This Hybrid Nagamaki has a handle of 18 inches in length, a blade 23 inches in length, and is made of 9260 Spring Steel. This sword feels great in the hand, its not too heavy, nor is it too light. An excellent weight. The 18 inch handle gives a distinctive reach advantage. The blade itself not being too big proves to be stout and sturdy. To unaccustomed hands this blade could almost be swung similarly to a battle axe, but I wouldn't recommend it unless in dire need. The wrapping on the handle are tight, very tight, which is good in my particular case. Though others have complained about tight wrappings on their Japanese swords, it doesn't really affect the overall quality. No doubt this company makes their wrappings tight, like it or not, but in the long run it improves the life of your sword. As a collector of various swords from various companies, Swords of NorthShire stands out among other custom Japanese sword makers. If your doubting if they are reliable, I would recommend going to a flee market or sketchy online sword dealer and buy one of their products. Then save up and buy a sword from this company. Believe me you will feel the difference in the overall weight, balance, and cutting ability. This company uses tremendous steels, 1060, 1095, 9260, and much more. This is truly a trustworthy site, the people treat you with respect, and the customization is very well rounded and evenly balanced. " Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. But Crom is your god, Crom and he lives in the earth. Once, giants lived in the Earth, Conan. And in the darkness of chaos, they fooled Crom, and they took from him the enigma of steel. Crom was angered. And the Earth shook. Fire and wind struck down these giants, and they threw their bodies into the waters, but in their rage, the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield. We who found it are just men. Not gods. Not giants. Just men. The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts.[Points to sword] This you can trust. " - Conan's Father (Conan the Barbarian (1982) )

I've spent years dreaming about getting a Katana, the problem is none ever fitted my personal preference when it comes to the colours, blade style, saya fittings etc. I finally settled on Swords of Northshire after a quick few emails asking about special unlisted fittings, special bo-hi etc and then pleasantly surprised when they could do everything I asked for! So after a little hesitation I ordered everything and It came a little later than expected (out of their control, it was the government's fault). Let's start with the saya, as I opted for special kojiri and fittings, the kojiri is fitted on with glue and unfortunately it appears a little too much glue was used and the glue pops out of the fitting a little bit, but its only noticeable if you look at it closely so no big deal. The colour choice that I chose was a dark red, in person its definitely dark, almost brown to the eye, I would argue it should be named dark burgundy. But yet again the colours in real life mixed together well so I'm actually more pleased with this color than a lighter dark red, and lastly the saya is slightly more loose than I would like, a slight tap when the blade is upside down will make it fall out, but this is easily adjustable with shimming the saya, overall at the price point, a very nice saya. The blade tapers down and it's much thinner than what I expected, also not a problem. The tsuka is perfect, nothing to complain about at this price point (I choose the cheapest option). Overall I am pleased with this purchase, honestly nothing to complain about at this pricing point everything that bothered me a little was extreme nit picking, as it was only just a little test run with this company, I am and willing to buy more expensive custom blades in the future. And as a side note the free ems shipping came very fast as expected, and I'm not sure if some magic was pulled but I didn't have to pay any duty or border taxes which is the best feeling ever, this is in Canada for reference. I would recommend this to a friend, in fact I already have! 4/5

It is a wonderful work by Swords of Northshire. When I received the iaito katana, it was perfectly wrapped and in flawless condition. As soon as I got the sword out of the box, I examined the piece carefully. - The kashira (pommel) was tight - The tsuba (hand guard) was firm in place (and crafted excellently as well) - Habaki (blade collar) encircled the blade quite well - The hi (blood groove) was lined very well, with uniform depth - The kissaki (blade tip) was elegant - Overall blade was beautifully crafted I ordered the blade and I asked them to engrave a Japanese Kanji and also my name on the blade, and they have made a magnificent job. I could not see a flaw in any parts of the sword as a whole. A huge thanks to Swords of Northshire. Keep up the excellent work. - a swordsman and blacksmith. :)
