Hand Forged Folded Damascus Steel Clay Tempered Blood Dragon Samurai Katana Sword

The Blood Dragon Katana sword is made of folded and clay tempered steel with a polished mirror-like surface. The blade is very sharp and folded 13 times resulting in 8,192 layers. The visible grain pattern on the blade comes from folding the steel repeatedly during forging. A special clay mixture is applied to the blade by hand, using a thin covering near the edge and a thicker layer over the spine of the blade. This results in a relatively quicker cooling of the edge during quenching, producing a hard edge and softer back. This process also gives the blade it's beautiful hamon (temper line). It is then hand polished with multiple grades of sharpening stones which makes the surface of the blade reflective like a mirror. The blade has a full tang, greatly enhancing the strength of the sword. The sword comes with a black lacquered hardwood saya with red "claw marks", silk sageo/ito, genuine same' (rayskin) and premium engraved copper fittings. This sword is a very good choice for dojo and iaido use, gifts, cutting practice, display, and collection. It is durable enough for tameshigiri and bamboo
