A blade made from iron sand and charcoal, this tamahagane steel samurai sword is made using traditional Japanese methods. Our swordsmiths smelt tamahagane in a tatara furnace, fusing together the iron and carbon elements to create this specialized steel ore. After smelting, we separate the high carbon and low carbon pieces for use in the core and cutting edge of the blade.
We carefully fold and temper the steel to create a beautiful hamon line and grain pattern which are later hand polished to a high shine. Polishing can take up to a month to ensure that all the details of the blade come to life. You can use this sword for display and ceremony as well as practice sessions in the dojo. We recommend this sword for serious collectors.
